This week at Gorgas Park- Empire Strikes Back and Zydeco-A-Go-Go

Tuesday, 8/25 at dusk, watch The Empire Strikes Back! Bring your blankets and chairs, we’ll serve the popcorn. This is the last movie of the summer!

Thursday, 8/27 at 7pm, rock out to some cajun music with Zydeco-A-Go-Go, rescheduled from last week.

“Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!!” or “Let The Good Times Roll!!” with Zydeco-a-Go-Go, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier Zydeco band. Creole Zydeco and Cajun 2-steps combine with funky New Orleans Rhythm & Blues and vintage Louisiana Rock & Roll into a spicy gumbo of irresistible dance music— and whether they’re playing a smalltown fair or a big outdoor festival, a performing arts center or a college dance concert, a church carnival or a swanky fundraiser gala, a backyard BBQ or one of those non-stop everybody’s-up-and-dancin’ wedding receptions, you know it’s gonna be a wild & swingin’ bayou boogaloo, pitch-a-wang-dang-doodle-all-night-long ZYDECO DANCE PARTY!

Tuesday, August 18th at 6:30pm it’s the Harry Walther Band followed by The Princess Bride!

This concert is part of the Performances in Public Spaces Program.

Harry Walther is a Singer Songwriter from the Philadelphia area that has been bringing his version of heart felt songs of life and love for the last 15 years. Performing live shows has become a passion for Harry and his fans appreciate that. Whether it is solo, acoustic “unplugged” combo or full out band, the live shows never fail to rock the house down. The Harry Walther Band has been a staple at World Cafe Live lately. HWB is an energetic and entertaining R&R band with deep country roots in the Philly music scene going back to the ’60′s, ’70′s and ’80′s. Just released new single, “Western Gate” is making waves in the Americana charts.

On Thursday, August 20th, Zydeco A-go-go plays at 7pm!
